چکیده
Population growth and the way resources are being exploited directly affecting environment. The natural fiber market, for example, is worth billions of dollars a huge amount fibers becomes waste. This considerable waste motivates study as reinforcement in polymeric matrix, which benefits both environmental sustainability technical-commercial development new materials with good properties reduced cost. In this study, jute fiber-reinforced composites previously manufactured from an industrial (W), polypropylene, compatibilizer, nano-calcium carbonate (N), were exposed to accelerated aging. tested by infrared spectroscopy, contact angle (CA) measurement, tensile test. Infrared analysis showed greater oxidative degradation after All CA values continued above 90° Among all compositions, ones presence N had highest values, showing that acted waterproofing agent. After aging, significant decrease was observed. did not show variation elastic modulus either Deformation at break decreased significantly compositions no aging programs. No remarkable reduction observed fibers.

Accelerated Heat Aging Study of Phenolic/Basalt Fiber Reinforced Composites
One of the greatest impediments to use polymer-matrix composites is their susceptibility to degradation when exposed to the elevated temperatures and the limited knowledge on the thermal and mechanical properties of these composites at such temperatures. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of accelerated heat aging on the tensile properties of the Woven Basalt/Phenolic (WBP) ...

A new treating method using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and Maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene (MPP) emulsion was introduced to treat jute fiber mat in order to enhance the performance of jute/polypropylene (PP) composite prepared by film stacking method. The surface modifications of jute fiber mat have been found to be very effective in improving the fiber-matrix adhesion. It was shown that tr...

متن کاملMechanical Behavior of Stainless Steel Fiber-Reinforced Composites Exposed to Accelerated Corrosion
Recent advancements in metal fibers have introduced a promising new type of stainless steel fiber with high stiffness, high failure strain, and a thickness < 100 μm (<0.00394 in.) that can be utilized in a steel fiber-reinforced polymer. However, stainless steel is known to be susceptible to pitting corrosion. The main goal of this study is to compare the impact of corrosion on the mechanical p...
